  • 63 percent of local citizens voted for Oleg Kuvshinnikov at gubernatorial elections

  • The Regional Election Commission announced the preliminary results. The incumbent governor won the election by a landslide.

It is worth reminding that there were four candidates for the Vologda Oblast Governor. Oleg Kuvshinnikov gained almost 63 percent of the popular vote. Alexander Morozov, representative of the Communist Party, had 18,03 percent. Sergey Karginov from the Liberal Democratic Party finished third with 10,34 percent. Alexander Teltevskoy, candidate of A Just Russia, gathered 6,3 percent.

Representatives of the United Russia Party ran away with the election to the Vologda City Duma.

“Representatives of the United Russia have got 26 mandates in the Vologda City Duma. The Liberal Democratic Party have 2 mandates and A Just Russia – one. Besides, a self-nominated candidate has been elected to the city parliament”, explained Sergey Golubev, chairman of the Territorial Election Commission in Vologda.

The voter turnover in Vologda was 25 percent, in the region – about 30 percent. There were no violations during the election both in Vologda and in the region.

“The election campaign was transparent, elegant and civilized. The electoral battle was real. I also want to add that there were no complains and censures concerning the organization of the election”, said Lyudmila Antonova, chairperson of the Territorial Election Commission in the Vologda region.

These are only the preliminary results. The final ones will be announced in several days.
