  • Vologdas athlete is champion of World Summer Pentathlon Championship

  • Valeria Zavyalova won the gold medal of the World Summer Pentathlon Championship, having produced the best performance among girls aged 17-18. Yalta hosted the competitions from September 14 to 20.

    Vologdas athlete Valeria Zavyalova attended the Children and Youth Sports School of winter sports. Now she represents the Sports Club Olympus. The 17-year old girl has become winner and prize-winner of the Russian Pentathlon Championship several times within the last few years. In 2014, she first participated in the World Championship and took the second place.

    It should be added that the program of the pentathlon competitions includes several events: long-distance running, sprint, swimming, shooting and grenade throwing. The record number of sportsmen took part in the tournament in the Crimea over 190 athletes aged 12 to 80 came to Yalta from Russia, Ukraine, Moldova, Armenia and Kazakhstan.
