  • International forum in Vologda will be about innovations in health and active ageing

  • The international forum Social Innovations 2016 that will be held in the regional capital will be about health and active ageing. Vologdas Mayor Yevgeny Shulepov announced it at the general meeting of the Association Healthy Cities, Districts, Settlements. St. Petersburg is hosting it from October 14 to 15. It was decided during the discussion that Vologda would organize the forum together with the association.

    Today we are elaborating the system of projects in Vologda the aim of which is to call upon local people to follow healthy lifestyle. There are a lot of ideas in the city and we will be glad to share them with other cities. Therefore we want to devote next years forum Social Innovations to innovations in the sphere of health and active ageing. The chairman of the Association Healthy Cities, Districts, Settlements our Governor Oleg Kuvshinnikov endorsed this idea and gave the green light for us to hold this important event for the country, noted Vologdas Mayor Yevgeny Shulepov.

    The general meeting of the Association Healthy Cities, Districts, Settlements marked the fifth anniversary of its foundation. Over 30 cities from 12 regions of Russia, delegations from Lithuania, Latvia, the Czech Republic and Belarus took part in it.

    Vologda was included into this association in 2011. Health and active ageing of local people these aims are determined in the main municipal strategy Vologda Comfortable City destined for 2020. The report of Vologdas Mayor Yevgeny Shulepov was about implementation of this document.

    The Health Five-Year Plan has been announced in the regional capital this year. And the plan of the Year of Health in 2016 includes 115 city events: the Spartakiad of Union of Cities of Russian Centre and North-West, competitions of labour collectives, schools, universities, various festivals of health. It is planned that over 150 thousand people will take part in them.
