  • Vologda will become venue for International Film Forum Golden Vityaz

  • The corresponding certificate was given to the management of the cinema centre Vologda by Nikolai Burlyaev, famous Russian director and actor, on October 22. He became a guest of the Second All-Russian Belov Readings and held a press-conference in the Centre of Culture Red Corner.

It is the third visit of Nikolai Burlyaev to Vologda. He came to our city for the first time in the late 1980s when he shot the film based on Vasily Belovs novel Everythings Ahead. The film director first met the master of village prose at that time.

We got to know each other and hugged each other for the first time. Then we became to communicate more often. Vasily Belov is a planetary writer; he showed the images of Russia and the Russian spirit. Nobody wrote as Belov did. I am happy that I have come to the Belov Readings. You are doing a very good deed in Vologda when you attract attention to such an important figure in literature. We must read Belovs works and popularize them, underlined Nikolai Burlyaev.

The film director brought a present to Vologda he gave the certificate confirming the right to present the films of the International Forum Golden Vityaz to the cinema centre Vologda. Nikolai Burlyaev is the president of it. The list includes 30 movies of modern directors they will be screened at the Lenkom and the Salyut cinemas during a year.

Vologda is hosting the Belov Readings for the second time. They have become the All-Russian event by the decision of Vologdas Mayor Yevgeny Shulepov this year. Federal experts are taking part in it. The whole kaleidoscope of events - opening of the Memorial Flat of Vasily Belov, reconstruction of the Belov Centre, appellation of the School 21 made the forum interesting for everybody.

It is significant for us to make the Belov Readings not just a scientific meeting. We wanted to make the name of Vasily Belov the main one in October and may be even longer so that people in every family could remember this writer and could read his books, noted Nikolai Kolygin, Deputy Mayor, head of the Department of Humanitarian Policy in the Vologda City Administration.

Scientific meetings and concert programs have been held. On the last day of the readings, on October 23, guests of the literary forum will go to the native village of Vasily Belov Timonikha to see where he found images for his characters.
